Description
After marching 46 hard days through the icy grounds of the Antarctic, an Argentine military expedition lead by Col. JORGE EDGAR LEAL reached the South Pole on December 10, 1965. Col. Leal and his group left the Argentine base on the Weddell sea “General Belgrano” on October 26, and marched 1100 kilometers fighting their way under worst weather conditions, to reach the South Pole as the fourth nation achieving this goal. First at the South Pole was the Norvegian Roald Amudsen, second was Robert Scott from England, whose expedition finished in tragedy in 1912, and finally the English man Vivian Fuehs with the Newzealander Edmund Hilary conquered the South Pole in 1958.
