Description
THERE'S A CATCH TO IT!
Descendants Of Tarascan Indians Who Have Fished The Waters Of Lake Patzcuaro, Mexico, For Centuries Sail Out From Their Unique "Butterfly Nets." No Other Method, Modern Or Ancient, Can Catch Fish As Efficiently As These Huge Figure "8" Nets. Sardines And White Fish Are Caught In The Lake's Fresh Water By Fishermen In Teams Of Four. When The Four Boats Close In On A School Of Sardines, The Nets Are Dipped Into The Water To Form An Almost Solid Net. Slowly The Five-Foot long Nets Are Raised -- Each Man Keeping His Own Catch. An 80-Foot Stone Statue Of Jose Maria Morelos, One Of Mexico's Leaders In The War For Independence, Dominates The Island Home Of The 300 Tarascan. Fishermen, Located In The Center Of The 25-Mile Long Lake.
