The 1st. Batt. The South Staffordshire Regiment recently celebrated FEROZESHAH DAY to commemorate the famous battle against the Sikhs in December 1845-on their Parade ground at Waynes Keep, near Nicosia. Or Parade was the ancient solid tean CHINZ cat gilded and painted red and black presented to the Regiment in Mandalay in 1925. KEYSTONE PHOTO SHOWS:- The CHINZ cat of the South Staffs Regiment is carried ‘on Parade’ by PTE. RON REECE of Stoke-on-Trent (left) and PTE. RON BED DOW of Walsall and with in rear PTE. ROBERT KIBERLY of Walsall. Seen on the outskirts of Nicosia.
