In the province of Zeeland in the South of the Netherlands, where in 1953 the whole country was flooded by the bursting of the dykes - work is now in progress on the construction of the gigantic Delta Project. In the “Haringvliet” (River mouth of the Rhine) a building island has been constructed. An enormous tower crane - the largest in Europe measuring 75 m long and 40 m. High is being employed to raise the huge triangles forming the spans. There will be seventeen spans with 400 triangles, on the base of which cars will drive. On the other side of the cement triangles the arms of the heavy lock gates will be placed.. In 1968 through 17 openings in the sluices - the superfluous water of the Haring valet can be dispersed..
