First formal portrait of H.M. The Queen Elizabeth II - wearing a gown of ivory brocade woven with gold and turquoise thread and with turquoise velvet neckline. She is also wearing the sash and star of the Order of the Garter, the necklace which was given her as a wedding present by the Nizam of Hyderabad, and a circle of diamonds and pearls. The circlet which is arranged in a pattern of cross pattee and the shamrock, rose and thistle, has been worn by queens of England since Queen Victoria.
